Have you tried , when you upload the "preview image" here to upload a gif, to see if this is supported?

when i uploaded a gif file as preview image, it said that ''the file cannot be used because it is not displayable''

Hmm.. I'm sure that I have already seen a rainmeter suite where the uploader had an animated image for preview. But I don't know if there was old enough and the staff here are cancelled the support for gifs..
I don't know if there is a support e-mail of DA to send for this..
