Description This is my collection of canes. Being crippled and all I think that if I am going to limp, I should limp in STYLE!

From left to right:
-My first cane, I got it after I first started having trouble walking. It's an adjustable I got at Wal-Mart.

-Severus! I call it that, even though it's actually a replica of Lucius Malfoy's walking stick from the Harry Potter movies. It even came with a hidden wand! I had to have it shortened so I can walk with it...In fact, I still need to have an inch or two cut from it. One of my goals in life is to have JK Rowling pretend to cast a spell on it.

-My standard 'round the town cane. It was Christmas gift from my Mother a few years ago. I really like the acryllic tortoise-shell handle.

-My sword cane...I actually bought this YEARS ago before I needed a cane. I found it in China Town. Why did I buy it? ...'Cause it's got a freakin' sword in it! I also liked that the head was a cobra.

-My favorite in my collection: My Turtle-cane! The hook is carved like a sea turtle. Turtles are my favorite animal, so when I saw a Turtle Cane while in China Town (China Town is awesome), I had to get it. I had to reinforce a couple carved notches in it with superglue since it was starting to loosen up when I walked but its fine now.

And that's my cane collection!

Thanks for the compliment on my collection! My plan is to get House's flame cane next, I even found a website that carries it.

It started as just a pain in my right leg in late 2006\early 2007. It came and went for a couple months at first, but... By late 2007, my knee had swollen more than twice its size, my left knee wasn't much better and my wrists hurt under their own weight. I basically spent the last few months of '07 stuck in bed because of it.

February 2008 I got the official diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. My doctor did an RA factor blood test and the conversation went like this:

"You have an RA factor of 154."
"Uh...What's normal?"
*Doctor holds up two fingers*
"...Well, crap..."

Nowadays it's not too bad, the damage to my legs is irreversible, though. I do have a problem with the medication I have to take, immunosuppressant steroids (and not the good "bulk up" kind of steroids, the "gain fat" steroids...Ugh...) that have a bunch of nasty side effects. I only take them when I absolutely have to, otherwise its pain meds.

The wheelchair thing is mainly if I don't get it under control (it'll just continue to destroy my joints, just not as fast). It's less painful now, but I still don't have it fully in check. Especially since I avoid taking the steroids. I'd rather be in a wheelchair compared to the what the steroids are capable of (crashed immune system and shuts down a couple glands\organs, mainly, but there's other serious side effects, too).

I got the RA from my Dad, it kicked in for him about twelve years ago. His is more manageable, but he also takes higher doses of the steroids (which has messed up his health a couple times, hence why I avoid them).

By the way, I just saw your review for the Xros Wars fic. I'm really, really glad that you liked it (especially the Tactimon Bing Fa portion)! The next chapter should go up tomorrow.
