Description
There was a harsh rumbling from the engine room that nearly tossed Harold from his bunk. He scrambled to his feet in a confused daze. A quick glance out of the porthole told him that something had gone very, very wrong. Clearly, the SS Albuquerque was no longer in the Atlantic. The water was a floral green with massive crystals jutting out from the depths. Atop one of them sat a helmet fit for a giant! He didn't have time to ponder his new surroundings, the alarms were sounding off. The ship was taking water, and quickly, passengers dashed madly for the lifeboats. Harold couldn't make sense of the chaos. He merely followed the others and hoped for the best.
Harold exited out onto the main deck. The air was heavy and rancid. His head throbbed from inhaling it. He turned around to see a massive crowd staring in a stunned silence at the colossal being approaching the ship! It waded through the sea, carrying trinkets of unknown purpose. Its head wriggled with that appeared to be worms or serpents. Its midsection was missing entirely revealing even more of them where innards should be! It stared down upon the ship with three neon eyes. They were seemingly at the creature's mercy.
Harold's mind was bombarded by a voice. Though the creature had no visible mouth, it spoke to him through mysterious means. "To witness souls crying out for freedom from fullness and want... salvation has come!"
"Deliverance from flesh..."
"Deliverance from desire..."
"Deliverance from hunger and need..."
"Deliverance from the shackles of life!"
"Partake in the fruits of the tree, embrace the gifts of this blessed realm! Despair no more, for you shall become one with all things here! A unity through division. Division of the self from the soma."
Harold wasn't one for rambling speeches. He hopped into a lifeboat and released it as the ship plunged ever further towards the ocean floor. He witnessed more worm-like creatures scurrying through the water towards the ship. They seemed to be shucking it from the inside! He didn't like to think about what would happen if one of those monstrosities got hold of him. He rowed as hard as his arms could row towards a distant island with a single gigantic tree-like growth. It was the only semblance of land as far as the eye could see. He tried not to look back.
"Become the sea..."
"Become the sky..."
"Become what you were destined to be..."
"Become a qlippoth."
