What a peaceful looking place.
Must be cold now.

Colder than last year for the same time of year. There's already been some light snowfalls past week, never seen this early before. Not in in 17 years of living in Shiga prefecture. I'm close to the mountains.

Summer here was short, started late, but was a bit hotter than usual. Wasn't as hot as the media tried to lie about though. The Japanese rainy season usually starts in June, but didn't start until July. Never see temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius here. I saw 40 once in Shiga prefecture about 10 years ago.
Hottest places I lived were in Australia. Seen personally up to 50 degrees Celsius there, but never more than 40 here in Japan.

Two hottest countries on Earth are Australia and Libya. The centre of Australia has reached official temperatures of 58 degrees Celsius, same as Libya. One of my brothers travelled by car from the city of Adelaide in the south, to Darwin in the far north. In between, he saw temperatures as high as 60 degrees in the desert.
I think there's a very long cycle of about 40-50 years in the climate. I remember as a child back in 1973-1974, there was crazy weather, very powerful storms, then afterwards the summer and winter weather was different from what it had been before. Maybe it's about to flip back the other way again. Which might explain the terrible powerful typhoons that have hit Japan during the past 2 years.
