Um...well 1) it's a Disney cartoon, at its heart. 2) He's already a pretty likable and sympathetic character, not to mention an actual child. 3) He's a talented alchemist, which could be a useful skill in some dramatic final battle against the big bad (currently looking like Cass, but maybe someone else will show up who's worse).
And 4)....I really want to believe my boy will be okay--
