Description
A 1959 Mercury M100 my brother and I pulled out from behind an old service station in a ghost town recently, it was used as an AMA (AAA int he US) tow truck locally till early 1972 and even has a home made tow truck deck in the back.312, Ford-O-Matic and a factory radio!
Gotta love that front bumper!

Just for fun do you doff you most frightening hillbilly attire, stuff a stub on an old cigar in your lip, get the five o'clock shadow going and cruise the back logging roads for damsels in distress and inquire if you and your bro can give her a tow with "Dueling Banjos" from "Deliverance" blasting on that radio ......

Floorboards and a frame, that's nothing, I replace them all the time. I'd bet I can find a donner if you can't, and they usually don't rust here.

We got it as a parts truck, and the parts are going all over the US and Canada so it's all good. We normally don;t get much for rust here either.
I really appreciate the offer though!

Parts truck, it's amazingly rough but looks really good, the cab and box floor are gone and the frame is badly damaged.

Need ALL THE TOW TRUCKS!
I tried to get that Fargo tow truck you can see in the other photo, that would have been fun to have that, my 36 and my 46 Fargo tow truck all together!
Yeah, we had Mercury trucks in Canada from 46-72 (most books say 46-67 but I own an a 68 and we restored a 72 once)
Seems most Mercuries had more options then the fords on average, this one has the 312 Y-block, water cooled automatic, radio, dual visors and is a custom cab.
Between my brother and I we have a 46, 57, 59, 60 and 68 Merc trucks right now! (till too long ago I also had a 59 Merc and my dad had a 58)

Mercury!
Yes, that tractor tire skin peel bumper is off the hook!!! Oops... tow truck pun?
Rat rod meets the Clampett's?... ooogaa!
I'd have expected some FE thunder, like a 352, in a '59, but she's got good ole Thunderbird 312 HOOORSEPOWER? Good gravy, Mabel, she'd pull the a$$hole outta the world with rock'n'roll T-Bird wings!

LMAO!
That bumper, everyone loves it, I wish this truck was suitable for building because I would drive it like this for kicks!
Sadly the frame is badly damaged, the cab and box floor are almost totally gone (looking at the rest of the body you would not expect that)
Y-blocks were used in the trucks for a number of years while the FE and MEL was used in the cars.
Speaking of Y-blocks, I have a Lincoln 368 Y-block in my 56 Mercury COE!

I shoulda remembered the Y-block thing. I had a friend with a newer truck than this with a Y-block in it.
Cool business!
