Description And I put way more work into creating it than a scratching post deserves.

Elerin is modeling my upcoming #cat_keyhole_lingerie for DazStudio & G2F.

But yeah, this project has been so much fun to work on I've just had to show it off early >_>

And I can't help but feel bad that this 3delight render came out better than any of my Iray renders. So ignore my previous dink statement about 3delight.

Also, I find it hilarious that there is already a #scratchingpost tag. I'm losing myself in laughter right now.

3Delight is definitely still a very useful engine! It's definitely the go-to engine for any Pixar-like or toon-styled scenes. Trying to do these in luxrender or Iray can make these types of scenes look like close ups of plastic toys.
It's also great for richer colors, special effects or unique lighting you just can't get in the real world (or unbiased engines like luxrender or iray).

Unique lighting is definitely something I'm trying to figure out in Lux. I mean, theoretically, it should be possible to get some amazing sci-fi-esque lighting by using a number of mesh lights, but then that brings in the problem of too many lights or too many polies to a light. I'm imagining that if I truly want to create scene with strong unique lights, I'll probably need a string of networked $5000 machines to pull it off in a timely manner

You can get some great lighting effects by using sIBL lights (Lux Infinite Lights w/ Environment Maps: www.luxrender.net/wiki/LuxRend… ). Also using indirect lighting by hiding mesh lights behind object for aura effects reflected off objects, etc.

Experiment, experiment, experiment!
