Description WHOA, WHAT'S THIS? Not only is this one of the first times I've ever submitted pictures two days in a row, but two pictures of fanart for the same series?
Unheard of, I know.

While working on the 100 theme challenge, Homura was the OBVIOUS first choice for the theme "Obsession", as to me, she comes off as psychotically obsessed with Madoka. Now, isn't her fault, per se. I believe that she was more or less warped by her wish, in that wishing to go back in time to protect Madoka caused her to only really be able to think about her, that saving Madoka could be her only goal or happiness, etc.

In this picture, I tried to do something that I haven't seen many artists do in terms of the god forms; in a lot of pictures, Madoka looks just as helpless and moe as ever, and Homura doesn't look anything less than loving and noble, like she made this great sacrifice so she could be with Madoka. I think that's bologna, and not how the characters should be depicted. Instead, I tried to show Madoka's concern for her friend; she wouldn't like what Homura's become, much less her reasoning, but Homura is still a friend and she would want to help her. Homura, however, is very mentally warped, and is showing her more possessive nature. She didn't become a god to get to be with Madoka, so much as to keep her and control her. I know that Homura looks NASTY in this picture. I did that intentionally. I tried to make her look as sick and gross as possible, to show that she is not okay.

I'm glad to call this picture done, I feel a little sad that it doesn't look as finished as I hoped it would be, but I've been working on this on and off for a couple months now and I told myself I jut HAD to finish it, so here we are. I also know that their outfits aren't perfect, and that there are issues with it overall, but if I don't call it done now then it might never get finished, so I'm going to call it complete and leave it be so I can focus on more pictures for the 100 theme challenge.

This is a good take on their sad, complicated, tragic relationship. I like how you made Homura more sickly and how you even drew her hair whirling around Madoka's, really shows what obsession and messing with fate can do to someone.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that. I really tried to make it interesting, and get my point across using the simplest techniques, like the redness to Homura's eyes and how her hair is curling around Madoka's, so on.

This is a great picture. I think that too many people over glorify and romanticize what Homura did, she beat the Incubators and gave "saved" the girls but it wasn't to stop them from hurting everyone or to help her friends, it was forcing HER idea of happiness on her friends, and fucking with the Incubators because of all the crap they gave her.  She even views herself as a pathetic loser, any "Noble" act she did was for her own selfish gain.

I am glad you made her look sickly, and I love how Madoka is more sad about what her friend has become rather than sad about the betrayal.

I'm really glad that someone else got the same general feeling that I did about that whole situation, because all of the fan-art really made me feel like I was alone in my theory and I wasn't sure how people would take this picture because of it.
It's great to hear that you liked the picture, and that the message I was trying to give came across well. C: Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment!

Happy to validate you pal
I did see one picture of a happy Homura with her arm tied with Madoka using the red ribbon, there is a smiling face on Madoka's face but you can tell she's crying underneath it. I would count that as one of the pics that has Homura come across as that bad one.
I personally think that Homura is plotting her own death, that everything she is doing is punishment for all the times she failed Madoka, just waiting for the final moment where Madoka will end her so she can, in her mind, atone for letting her down.
