I was inspired after discovering Cartoons!'s (CAP) Tomohawk animation to make a part-based, rather than frame-based, pixel animation of Necturna ([link] ). I tinkered with it a lot, learning on how to time stuff and get everything to match, and it's still not perfect, but at least I'm okay and getting used to it. I would like to try more of it out, but I have no time.All of the pieces in this animation displace, rather than rotate, for each of the frames. I only have ImageReady, rather than Flash, to animate. I can rotate them, I suppose, but that would have to be done manually.
This is a bit old, actually. I wanted to put this animation and Mollux's animation ([link] ) as one file, but 51 frames x 23 frames does not make a good file size. After quite a while, I just ended up keeping the loops separate.
Well, enjoy this excuse for an update.
The concept of this design originated from Pokemon and produced by Smogon's ~Yilx , to all of which I do not own or intend to use for profit.

Made a sprite, yes. There were multiple sprites submitted for the creation of this pokemon.

I really like how you animated this! Different pieces is a good idea; I wonder why I never thought of that... I always drew each moving piece again from scratch.

I did intend it to have some semblance to Pokemon B/W's animation style, except without rotations, there's a big chunk of that missing. At least it works out separately.

Well, true. And I suppose if there aren't 6 animations at once, background effects, battle effects, stat calculations, etc, potential animations produced in the game would be sharper.

I meant that the BW sprites look kinda weird when parts move because the artists rotated the pieces. Yours is less messy.

They rotate it that choppily because of everything else that the game has to keep up with. I don't rotate it at all...
