Drawn for the contest at The contest was to draw Kanchi, but I have this little obsession with Mamimi, so I drew the together all romantical like...even though that never happened in the show. Shh.This was my first time drawing mecha, and Kanchi was a LOT of fun to draw. His colouring doesn't look as good as Mamimi's though. Oh yes, and big thanks go to for help with the colouring. Also, thank you to the people that I whined and moaned to. You know who you are.

Oh man! A tutorial...haha that would be kinda hard since I'm not that great at drawing Kanchi myself. Basically what I did was find tons and tons of reference pictures of him and stare at them like crazy. Maybe if I had more experience with drawing mecha I could do a tutorial. It just took a lot of doodling of him to figure out how to draw him for that picture. Maybe just check out the gainax site for FLCL and find some FLCL picture galleries for pictures of him.

What a great FLCL artwork! you sertainly captured the essense of it
btw, i think that scene does happen in FLCL...well at least something close to it. Its when Mamimi first sees Kanchi in the field and i believe he has those fake wings on and she thinks that hes an angel...yeah, something like that; i could be wrong though!
anyway, beautiful piece of art...great coloring and everything, you sertainly have some awesome talent.
