I hate slash; why people feel the need to make canonically straight men gay within every single fandom is completely beyond me. These are my own OCs and are canonically homosexual, so why shouldn't I draw them? I'm not homophobic.

It was generally not my impression that losing your parts will make you suddenly beefy. He's eighteen years old, though, and was skinnier in the original comic.

Okay, I went to look for my source and came across stuff done to child prostitutes and one where it's done with *dogs biting* and got so horrified I couldn't keep searching. So I can't back up my claim due to trauma, so definitely don't quote me or believe me too much.

I had to look it up then because my curiosity got the BETTER OF ME.

I knew that castrati (male singers castrated before puberty) grow longer bones. Like, their ribcage gets huge and their femur gets huge. They just get really tall and skinny. And have really good lungs... But here's what I found on Wikipedia:

Medical consequences:
A subject of castration who is altered before the onset of puberty will retain a high voice, non-muscular build, and small genitals. He may well be taller than average, as the production of sex hormones in puberty—more specifically, estrogen via aromatization of testosterone—stops long bone growth. The person may not develop pubic hair and will have a small sex drive or none at all. Castrations after the onset of puberty will typically reduce the sex drive considerably or eliminate it altogether. Castrated people are automatically sterile, because the testes (for males) and ovaries (for females) produce sex cells needed for sexual reproduction. Once removed the subject is infertile. The voice does not change. Some castrates report mood changes, such as depression or a more serene outlook on life. Body strength and muscle mass can decrease somewhat. Body hair sometimes may decrease. Castration prevents male pattern baldness if it is done before hair is lost. However, castration will not restore hair growth after hair has already been lost due to male pattern baldness.[52]

Sweet. That's closer to what I got when doing the research for Tareef and the Harem comic. I also found out there are three kinds of eunuchs, depending on if they cut off one part and not the other, or if they were "clean shaven", which was common in China, I believe. I also did digging to see if a eunuch could even get it up anymore as a result of being castrated. As it turns out they can, it's just more difficult. Another source said that eunuchs were supposed to sleep with the concubines to keep them from getting bored, but were castrated to make sure they didn't produce offspring with the Sultan's harem ... another said traitorous eunuchs who slept with the concubines were executed! So much contradiction!

I read somewhere that in Ancient Rome, eunuchs were popular with the noble ladies since they could sleep with them without the risk of pregnancy (since post-puberty castration meant they could still get it up). Will see what I can find on eunuchs in the Middle East.

My research tended to throw up all sorts of contradictions. In the end he's still a cartoon, fictional character, so I went with what best suited my needs.

That is mildly disturbing but very interesting. (it makes me sad that they did this to people outside of their own free will--gotta say. It's sad.) But I suppose the contradictions depend on the culture... It's amazing how much that varies! I was going to say it's not at all surprising that countries "policies" where different, but I bet palaces policies (mouthful) varied from place to place. It just mattered on who was the leader, and what the wanted, I guess.

I read up that eunuchs were usually castrated in places like Egypt because the castration part was illegal in Muslim countries such as Turkey or parts of Arabia. The selling or use of eunuchs in these places, however, wasn't. Most didn't survive the process; they got infected and died.
