I'll be honest, I rarely use the head-proportions technique because I'm already comfortable enough drawing various body types. However, I get asked plenty of times how to draw people, so I pulled out my notes from drawing class and got the OCs to volunteer.
If there's one thing that irritates me to no end it's people complaining that they can't use anatomy books because "they only teach you how to draw muscular people". News flash! Unless you've got some horrible disease we all have the same muscles!!
This is by no means perfect and dear god don't use my anatomy or my characters to practise - go out there and use real people! - but I hope it helps to some small degree.
Note: 7.5 heads does not equal 6'0"; it's a measure of proportions, not height, as the heads can be scaled or shrunk depending on the character.

And this is why I'm taking an anatomy class this year. Once I have all those bones and muscles (and other such "decorative" items) down, I'll be able to do stuff like this much more easily.
Makes me wonder how men manage to hold up a belt or backpack (one of those big ones used for long hikes). Compared to women, most guys have no hips to speak of.

Well they do have hips ... hip-bones, anyway. When I went on a hiking trip with three friends the skinniest and smallest of the lot wound up carrying his AND my backpack, and I'm the lady here. Our hips do nothing when heavy packs and steep inclines are involved, dear.

True, but it's kind of funny how some guys look like they shouldn't be able to hold up their pants. Maybe that's why some of them don't even try.
I imagine that in the long run backpacks are more comfortable on our hips than on a guy's. The guys I know prefer to rely on their upper body strength to haul their packs. Me, I'd be lost if I couldn't shift most of that weight to my hips and legs rather than my shoulders and back. Even though it's better for your body to carry weight on your hips and legs rather than on your shoulders, it's something that doesn't come as naturally to men, for obvious reasons.
Yeah, beware the small ones. I've met people who were tiny but seemed for all the world like they have the proportional strength of an ant. One friend of mine is five-foot-nothing and 100 lbs soaking wet, yet she can carry a six foot, 180 lb person up a flight of stairs without breaking a sweat.

I don't carry any weight on my hips, I transfer it all to my shoulders and upper backs. Backpacks, shoulder-bags, carrier-bags, all of them I wear close so that the weight rests mostly on my shoulders.

The red X that goes from corner to corner isn't centered though, or else it'd be counted as a statement of superiority of Ireland over Scotland this obviously ignores how prominent the English flag is but w/e. That may have something to do with the fact that his hips aren't facing forward but are slanted to the right. Of course it's not going to be centered if its not on a flat surface.

As far as I remember - 7.5 heads is average height, 8 heads one is "perfect", and 9 heads is "heroic". But I may be wrong.

It depends on the body type you put with it. Louis is 9 heads and hardly looks the heroic type.

like an anime? I dont understand.. anime people in general.. are based off of real people. I became interested in a character from game of thrones and wanted to see how to draw little people, that dont resemble chibi's..
Smaller people are usually one size thoughtout their whole body.. This wasnt meant to be a ugly comment, and I dont like being jumped for it..
