This is the second part of an art trade with MadamMeatball ~ 

This school girl character belongs to MadamMeatball


I probably spent way too much time working on this one, but at least I got to apply some of my perspective practice in an actual drawing xD I guess I could consider this to be my third background study in a way ~ let’s say 2.5! The coloring and lighting were interesting aspects to play around with ~ I hope it looks good and balanced

Thanks Sketchman! It's my first attempt at a perspective drawing in months (outside of my sketchbook anyways) so I'm happy to see how it turned out And I agree, MadamMeatball did a fantastic job on her half! She's got an awesome style!

You're welcome. 😊 Getting perspective to look right can be a real challenge especially when you want it to look right with characters and all that. I use to struggle with it a lot but now it seems I have it down pretty well, I think?

Hiya Snailors! Thanks so much for those kind words ~ I've grown very fond of making lineless drawings like this I just love how well the shapes stand out ~ and it's fun experimenting with the lighting and effects on top of the clean drawings ^^

No problem! I've tried lineless art before, but it didn't work for me. Right, practice does pay off even though sometimes I don't feel like drawing backgrounds or doing much of anything complicated. It still helps to at least do something. I hope to see more improvement from everyone this year, including myself.

Thanks Crimson! I had a lot of fun with this one ^^ A lot of it was applying the skills I learned through my previous background studies and some daily perspective practice I was doing on the side ~ I'm very happy with how it turned out! It was also nice experimenting with the lighting and coloring now that I have more of a handle on how that stuff works xD It also helps that MadamMeatball's character was just fun to draw ~ Thank you for your detailed feedback! It really helps my ability to assess my own work

Ooo this looks nice!! I like how you did the background ~ It is simple but there is a lot of detail (that doesn't make sense xD) but it fits in with the character really well!
The perspective and background are fun too <3

Yeah a lot of it was rendering and lighting once I got the base shapes and perspective down, I still love how these vector based drawings look!

The drawing is mostly made up of vector shapes which gives it that lineless aesthetic ~ I just love how clean it looks. 
Lighting and value was definitely a focus with this one. I wanted to to attempt mixing different colored light sources with the cool light from the phone and vending machine and the warm light coming from outside. I think it adds a nice dynamic to the piece overall I'm glad you enjoyed my composition and lighting decisions! It makes me feel like I'm making good progress with these backgrounds
