Description
Hidden in the misty jungles of Southeast Asia, under the towering ruins of an ancient temple, a contest plays out among a group of warriors. Judged by an ancient Shih Tsu martial arts master, a nimble boar faces off against a ferocious Tasmanian Devil. Who will be the king of jungle jujitsu?----
Sketched on 9”x12” Strathmore 400 Series Sketch Paper, finalized and painted in Photoshop CS 2. This one took somewhere from 4-6 days to put together. The misty low contrast landscape was driving me crazy. I had to resist adding more color depth than necessary. When I got to the foreground the richer contrast and colors created a nice pop against the mist. The Tasmanian Devil didn’t look complete until added a couple of flecks of spittle around his mouth.

This pic is such a great concept! The coloring is all-around great, and I love the sense of action. Hmm, maybe it's just me, but something about the boar's right leg looks slightly off, like his foot is too far back or something.
Otherwise, I really do like this. The T-devil's expression is terrific. Having a shih tzu as old martial arts master is so appropriate. And he actually looks like a shih tzu!
