The nine lives of the divine cat Nyashya are well-known guardian spirits who in their individual forms represent those aspects which once allowed Nyashya to reach divinity. Destroyed and banished to the realm of the Forgotten, the divine cat vowed before being split up that she would have her revenge on the godless emperor herself even in his future divine form. Her vengeance would let her sworn arch-nemesis meet a terrible fate more painful than her own. The nine aspects have always tried to reassemble and unite.

In Nyashya's shadow once the sharpest and most secret blades walked in the service of the cat goddess to eliminate her enemies unseen. But now it is the third life of the divine cat, an aspect of the velvet pawed shadow, that executes Nyashya's will itself. This catlike assassin knows no mercy, appears unheard and disappears unseen.
