Okay! So i had this in my head for a while now so i decided to actually do it!
I have created a species called 'Sylphrites'!
They basically exist in an Alternate Universe.
I made this ALL out of my head so if it is similar to something, then it is pure coincidence.
SO! to provide a bit of background.....

When i was younger, before i created my Deviantart Account, i had this imaginary world in my head where there was this city in the sky WAY beyond the clouds and the people that inhabited it had wings and basically flew around. Soooo yeah.

I am going to teach you other stuff about them that i didn't mention in the picture.
(Before I start I just wanna specify that the wings can be ANY color at all. Meaning some wings can be black while others are blue and yellow and such. THEY CAN'T CHANGE COLOR. A Sylphrite is born with one wing color for life. The wing color is usually influenced by the parent's own. Some can have a mix of both parent's color or the same color that one of the parent's have.

Society and Culture:Sylphrites are both feral and civilized. They are more civilized than feral though. They hunt for their own food and stuff like that but they wear clothes. They are very sociable creatures and they live in secluded valleys that have a cluster of trees where they build their tree houses. like a tree neighborhood. They have homes both on the ground and in the sky but most live on the ground to learn more about human culture. They keep hidden because they know how wicked and exploitable most human beings can be. Despite knowing this, Sylphrites are still very interested in humans.
These creatures have lived on Earth for thousands of years studying humans and their way of life. The small wings were always the ones to sneak into the human world and collect information since all they had to hide were their extra eyes(they can dispel their wings to look like a regular human). The giant wings always had trouble hiding their tails(they were an actual limb attached to their bodies)
Sylphrites have the basic family structure and it is the parent's job to provide food and educate their children on basic stuff like geography, history, meteorology and astronomy(the Sylphrites were GREAT astronomers and meteorologists). There are no such thing as gender-roles or gender stereotypes; Both men and women are expected to go hunting or stay at home to tend to their young.
Since every child is home-schooled and the Sylphrites ARE a sociable species, they have a meeting place in an open field in the valley where they take their children to go make some friends(kinda like a park).
Sylphrites have yearly competitions that is a lot like the Olympics for entertainment that they take VERY seriously.
Sylphrites have a group of people that acts as a senate and among them is a chief who has a hereditary position. The chief is in power until they become old and senile then they pass on the position to their most responsible descendant(being a first born doesn't matter; Sylphrites value hard work over privilege)

Appearance and GeneticsMost Sylphrites like to keep their hair short so it doesn't get in the way when flying. Some hack it off with their nails. But of course not all of them like short hair although it is common. The fashion they have is usually a mix between modern and ancient Greek but everyone has their own fashion.
If a Sylphrite were to be born without the extra eyes or a Giant wing without their tail, they would be considered 'disabled'. To us, that's like a human being born without one eye or leg.
Offspring get physical traits from their parents just like how regular humans do (hair color, skin color, etc). If a small wing and a giant wing were to have kids, the unique genetics that belongs to their classes(the tail for giant wings and the extra wings for small wings) WILL NOT MERGE; The child will have a 50% chance of being either a small wing or a giant wing. Period.

(Small winged Parent + Giant winged Parent = 50% chance of having a giant winged child / 50% chance of having a small winged child)
(Small winged Parent + Small winged Parent = 100% chance of having a Small winged child)
(Giant winged Parent + Giant winged Parent = 100% chance of having a Giant winged child)
The lifespan of a Sylphrite is a little longer than most humans. They are guaranteed to live a little over 110 years.

AnatomyBasically the same as human's own but still slightly different. Their bones are lighter and they have extra muscle lining(though for some it may not look like it) The stomachs are smaller than a humans so they can go without food for a much longer time than we can. They still need water and the proper nutrition for proper health though. And of course they have an extra pair of eyes and the Giant wings have a tail that they have full control of.

......WHOA that was a lot to type!!
I might make some characters based off of this species.

Edit : Okay! I just thought of this as well. The Sylphrite's "Senate" consists of those WAY beyond their years. It's kinda like the "wise elders" of the Sylphrites. But a newly positioned chief would be a middle aged adult( Since the old chief reign would end when they become OLD, their children would be adults by then.) When a retired chief passes their position, they can join the "Elder's senate" by a decision from the new chief. That is, if the old chief isn't too senile.(the chief elects the senators.) When a sylphrite is elected as an 'Elder' that position is for life unless they resign. When an Elder dies or resigns, the chief has to replace their spot.
I might update more stuff in here in the future.
