Description
Amethyst Dust and RiversongRiver and Amethyst were selected by the choosing stone to marry, and so it was. They were never really in love, per se, but they cared deeply for each other, and valued every moment they spent with their little family. They had two daughters and one son, all of whom dutifully worked on the rock farm for most of their lives. Their oldest, Phlox, never married since the choosing stone could not find her an adequate partner. Their middle child, Shale Shards, married Velvetta, a humble farmer from a nearby village, and moved out of the family home soon after. He and his wife had no children, though no pony is sure if that was by choice or chance.
Cloudy Quartz, their youngest child, found love in a young stallion who appeared in town one day without explanation. When the two met, the stallion sheepishly introduced himself as Igneous Rock… Pie. The last part was added after a moment of hesitation, as if he wasn’t sure it was right, but Cloudy quickly brushed it off. He told her that he had traveled from a rock farm in the far hills of southern Equestria, and was looking for a place to settle down. She offered him a job and a room at the rock farm, and he gladly accepted.
Amethyst Dust and Riversong were skeptical of Igneous at first, but his charm and gentlemanly nature soon won them over. He never talked about where he came from, and Cloudy and her family eventually stopped asking.
Raspberry Pie and Lemon Meringue Pie
(Sidenote: Raspberry's maiden name was Raspberry Sorbet. Equestria is a matriarchal society, but some mares who marry stallions prefer their husbands' names over their own.)
Raspberry and Lemon Meringue Pie were bakers in the same town that housed the family of Amethyst Dust and Riversong. The two families never met, though, as the rock farm was quite a bit out of the way of the town. The Pie family bakery was beloved by all the town’s members, and they frequently bought cakes, pastries, and other baked goods there, so the bakery earned enough money for the Pies to live comfortably. They had two sons, Shoofly Pie and Key Lime Pie, both of whom loved baking, but neither of whom earned their cutie marks for it. Key Lime had an eye for architecture, and Shoofly… well, no pony could really nail down what Shoofly’s talent was, even when he spent hours trying to explain it.
One day, a famous food critic from Manhattan visited their small village, and was amazed by the food at the Pies’ bakery. She offered them a catering job back in Manehatten, where they would bake for the most prestigious restaurants in the city, and earn ten times as much as they did in their small town. They agreed, of course, and planned to leave for the city as soon as possible. Raspberry, Lemon Meringue, and Shoofly were ecstatic, but Key Lime was less than thrilled. He’d lived in the town for seventeen years, living simply and humbly, and he wasn’t about to leave it all behind so that his parents could live it up in some fancy big city. He defiantly stayed behind while his parents and his brother left for Manehatten. In his eyes, they had abandoned him.
While wandering around town one day looking for anypony who would give him work, Key Lime ran into Cloudy Quartz, the daughter of two rock farmers. Wanting to hide his less-than-desirable past from the beautiful mare, he hastily thought up a new name for himself— Igneous Rock Pie. He claimed he was also a rock farmer who had come from a faraway land in search of a new life. Far from the truth, but hard to disprove. He settled down with the family on the farm, and soon married Cloudy and had children of his own.
Cloudy Quartz and Key Lime Igneous Rock Pie
Cloudy and Igneous wasted no time in having their four little bundles of joy. Their oldest, Pinkamena Diane Pie, was born a year after their wedding, followed by Maudlina Daisy Pie, Limestonetta Daffodil Pie, and, finally, Marblona Dorothy Pie. Their lives were as enjoyable as one could hope for when working on rock farm— until they were visited by one Shoofly Pie. Shattered facades, hasty explanations, and much confusion followed. When all was said and done, Cloudy took a few days alone to sort everything out, and Igneous caught up with his long-lost brother… only to find out that he never wanted to see the stallion again. Shoofly, dissatisfied with being a baker, and supposedly no longer needed by his parents, had left home with two of his troublemaking friends, and never looked back. He’d become a vagabond, a runaway, a criminal. Igneous politely asked him to leave, hoping he’d get the message and stay away. He didn’t, of course. Over the next few years, Shoofly visited every couple months and brought souvenirs and stories for the kids. Igneous tolerated him for a while, but he finally snapped when he realized how big of an influence Shoofly was on Pinkie Pie. He kicked Shoofly out then and there, and officially banned him from the Pie home. The very same night, Pinkie Pie disappeared.
Thankfully, the pink pony was having the time of their life with their uncle Shoo and his best buddies, Bardolino and Wanderlust. The four of them traveled together for years, until an illness landed Pinkie in the Ponyville hospital. It was easily cured with the right medicines, but recovery time was immense, and Shoofly and his pals couldn’t afford to stay in one place for too long. They left Pinkie with the promise that they would return whenever they were able.
Pinkie Pie and Red Fern/Tumbleweed/Rambler/Willow Wisp/Treehugger
While in Ponyville, Pinkie got an internship with the Cakes, met the five ponies who they would help to save Equestria, and fell in love with everyone’s favorite nature lover, Treehugger. While Red Fern is her given name, Treehugger was never one to tell other ponies how to address her, so she picked up many nicknames in her time. She finally settled on Treehugger when she married Pinkie, just for simplicity’s sake.
Before her marriage to Pinkie, Treehugger had given birth to a son, Magpie, who was… a total accident. Treehugger loved him with all her heart, though, and raised him on all the hippy wisdom and good vibes a foal could ever need. Magpie’s father, Spearhead, had to leave for royal guard training soon after his birth, so Treehugger got full custody of him. Pinkie happily welcomed little Maggie into their family.
Treehugger and Pinkie had six other children: Piperanna Darcy Pie, Floyd, Stone Skipper, Periwinkle, Pomegranate Pomelo, and Cherry Blossom.
Maud Pie, Trixie Lulamoon, and Starlight Glimmer
Maud met Starlight and Trixie while she was visiting Pinkie in Ponyville. The two unicorn ponies were dating at the time, and had an open relationship, so they were both quickly enraptured by the strangely charming mare. A few years later, the three of them married, and had three children: Midnight Glow, Geode, and Starwave.
Limestone Pie and Tempest Shadow Fizzlepop Berrytwist
Nopony’s really sure how these two started dating. One day, Limestone just started going out occasionally for unspecified reasons, and Pinkie eventually got so curious that they followed her. Turns out, she was leaving to meet her girlfriend, Fizzlepop Berrytwist, who she’d been with for months. She wasn’t intentionally hiding their relationship, she just didn’t think it was anypony else’s business.
After they get married, they travel around a lot since Fizzle is the lead trade negotiator for Equestria. They eventually have their daughter, Fire Ruby, and settle down in Fillydelphia.
Marble Pie and Rockhoof
Rockhoof eventually found his way to the Pie family rock farm, where his strength made him an excellent rock farmer. He moved into a nearby house, and spent most of his days working on the farm, where he met Marble. She was terrified of him at first, given that he was a legend, and that he was taller than any earth pony or Clydesdale she’d ever seen, but soon found that she was quite fond of him. He felt the same way, of course— Marble was a beautiful, adorable, sweet mare, and he couldn’t help falling for her. It took a painfully long time for them to actually start dating, as Rockhoof didn’t really understand the newer pony courtship customs, and Marble didn’t really understand the older Clydesdale courtship customs. When they finally sorted it out, though, they became a happy couple, and moved to Ponyville together. They have one child on the way.
