Description
I can't be the only one who noticed this. There are artists who really, really love comments. Enough to ask a random question at the bottom of the artist's comments like 'What's your favorite color?' just to get some feed back. They submit to a crap ton to groups and don't even care when the comment has nothing to do with the picture. They think 'hey someone commented yay~~'
and then there are those artists who do things like slap stamps like this all over their page and their art work. They disable comments sometimes and write things like 'don't have anything to say besides cute, don't comment' and 'Feel free to fave and run!'
Of course this isn't always the case. Not every artist who does these things are necessarily 'popular' or 'unpopular' I just noticed a pattern. Neither one of these is bad, I can't judge someone else.
This is just my opinion, feel free to share yours

That is interesting. I am more like the one on the left. There is something I noticed on other people's DA profile pages. There are some that don't want thank you comments and there are some that don't mind. It probably depends on how famous they are or how active they are on the website. If certain users get too many thank you comments, it starts to seem like spam. I do try to reach out whenever someone does a fave, llama or watch. However I back off if someone doesn't want a thanks. I am not a hugely popular deviant. So I like it when people leave comments and thanks. I don't mind if I don't get feedback. I am critical enough on myself to have an idea of where to improve. However I am not so critical that I discourage myself. The key is to have a growth mindset. I respond to thanks comments with a simple your welcome. If I do that to a lot of comments, I start sounding like Maui from Moana. He had a catchy song about Your Welcome.

I admit... I get frustrated. But one time, somebody posted in five seconds (altogether) on 4 deviations in consecutive order, and they said was "...." on all of them. By now, I just ask people "what was your favorite part?" that they are FORCED to say more than one friggin word...

There are reasons why some people don't like one word comments.
For example you put 2-3 hours into something you really like but you need feedback to fix something. One word comments aren't going to help.
I personally like it if people didn't just say 'cool' or 'nice' but say "That's nice!" "How long did it take you to do that?" or "That's cool!" "I really like the colours you used!"
Same goes for people who say 'bad' or 'dumb'. The artist wants more than that. They want to know why you think it's dumb or bad.
Some 'popular' artists keep in mind get a ton of comments most of them one worded comments that to them don't really help them grow nor like I said before give them the feedback they need.
Hope this helps.
