I went with a completely wild approach with this one and... I think it came about better than I thought it would when I was halfway through with it... lolzRelated content

damn o0 tell me about a detail work. and the colors work is quite great too. something sure you must have pass a long time on this nice piece of art o0

the detail work is really about layering your colours. I start with a basic line drawing of the dragon... how I want the body to flow, the pose etc. and from there I choose a base colour usually the darkest colour.... in this case it was a deep burgundy red with a lowered opacity for the paint in photoshop...from there it was choosing the fire colours also in lowered paint opacity to give them a translucent effect to allow the other colours to show through a bit as well. then it's blending all the colours so they appear to all be part of the same effect moving from burgundy to brick red to a golden orange to sun yellow to white where the flame is hottest.

wow. that was well thinking. I hear of people drawing on Photoshop more and more often. I should try it, one day.
