Description
"Monsoon" Drove down to this location to try and capture some lightning strikes as the storm rolled in but the storm beat me there and I arrived just as the heavens opened up with a torrential downpour. So I climbed into the back of my 4x4 opened up the boot and started shooting out into the pouring monsoon rain instead.*Edit* OMG a DD, thanks so much for the suggestion and the feature

Congratulations, and this looks very cool. I like the soft kind of unfocus to it, it looks really nice.

I know that it's not warm down there this time of year, but this shot puts me in mind of some troubles I've had. Β Do you have any advice for keeping lenses from fogging up when it's raining?

Keep a lens cloth handy at all times... when it fogs up wipe it clean, that's about all you can do really.
Β I made a battery operated lens warmer for my night time star shoots but it's not practical for most other situations since the battery is massive so instead I just keep a couple of lens cloths that I dipped in window cleaner and then dried. I keep them in a little clip box in my pocket or backpack it will help keep the fogginess at bay for a little bit at least, working in muggy humid climates is really hard.
If you try to keep the lens slightly warmer than the air temperature that will stop it from fogging up too.
I've heard some people have had luck with "RainX" or "NeverWet" but I've found applying such products to my front filter tends to create lens flare in certain lighting so I don't necessarily recommend it...... whatever you do don't put these products directly onto the front element of your lens, test them on an old filter first in case that react with the special lens coating on your lens or expensive filters.... that's about all the advice I have, hopefully you find something that works for you.

Thanks. Β I've played around with the idea of a retrofitted hair dryer, but like you say, batteries and weight. Β
I might play around keeping them warm with some of those chemical hand warmer pack thingies. Β I usually have those in my pockets for starscapes anyhow.

Very carefully composed, Michelle - especially the lead in from the left to the trees. One smart image.

Love the colours! I'm so used to my side and being in the temperate areas I occasionally forget it's tropical further north XD
