Firstly what progame is that on the left which has your specs and machine data. Second, what winamp skin is that? and/or where can I get it?

The program is called Samurize, [link] and the winamp skin is MMD3. A very popular skin you can find here on dA.

did you create your xp skin/hack yourself (start menu etc) or was it premade and you used an installer? i really like it, it's shiny!

what progam is that you have under your icons that shows your harddrive specs? i want it.

Ok... That's one nifty rig you got there.

Your two monitors have my one beat.
You certainly look like you have a bunch of disk space for your songs. and about a gig of ram which is decent. pretty much a modern day computer.

Seeing your post about your interest in trying out Linux gave me some interest about what you usually do with your computer.

Seeing all those icons on your desktop gives me some impression of the applications you run. And from what you've said about yourself, you are a big gamer and are a fan of Adobe and various other Microsoft only applications.

My advice...

I suggest that you keep a hard drive for your current operating system right now. The only way I've been able to run Ms only applications within Linux (besides using Wine and Cedega), is by using VMware to create a virtual computer running windows.

Using VMware to emulate windows is fine and all, but somehow it ...

*defeats the purpose of not using a windows operating system

*with the current state of virtualization technology, virtuaization software such as VMware do not mix with games.

* requires a windows installation cd. (not that many casual computer users have them.)

For your games, if they cannot run using Wine or Cedega, Linux might leave you out in the cold.

Just keeping your best interests in mind... ^_-

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

quickdraw In reply to fourteenthstar [2006-06-15 20:12:59 +0000 UTC]

Yup. It's a port of the linux app, SuperKaramba. It is by far one of the most impressive "eye-candy" utencils I've ever seen.

They often say the sky is the limit when using Samurize, and they would be correct. I have little "windows" that let me control winamp, show me what's on tv for the next hour and even how many people are playing on my favorite Unreal Tournament 2004 servers.

To say I am a fan of it is an understatement. I actually am proud to say I bugged Angelo enough about it that he helped me get the Samurize gallery added.

Litestep is a nice alternative. Works well with Windowblinds, and cleans up your desktop rather nicely.

Hrmm. I'll have to check it out and see if any litestep theme fits my look and needs.

I'm confident you'll find something. Make sure you check build versions though - some of the nicer-looking old skins that haven't been updated in a while can cause problems.

Doesnt' Samurize allow you to get rid of icons as well? And weren't you using it?

quickdraw In reply to rayvinazn [2006-06-06 20:16:22 +0000 UTC]

I am. the monitor with dAmn is my monitor that has all my Samurize set up and stuff. I'm still tweaking my configuation with that though, so I didn't want to show it off.

Not likely to happen, I'm afraid. This site has lost focus on the things it was founded on. Not necessarily a bad thing overall, but not a direction I've ever really cared for.
