In The Heart of The Storm

Entry in The-Heart's Club "The Winter Contest".

What better kind of snowstorm could you ask for than one with snowflakes made of hearts, and although, we sometimes feel we are lost in the middle of the storm always follow your heart because it will never lead you astray.

The power of the Unicorn rests in its singularity. Despite variations in the mythology relating to this most elusive and remarkable of creatures, a persistent aspect of Unicorn lore is that there is only ever one of them. This adds to the mystique which has always surrounded this most extraordinary beast, and makes it the object of passionate quest by generations of mystics, who see in it a universal symbol of the greatest prizes of all -- enlightenment and spiritural transformation. I think the Unicorn could also represent our own hearts seeing as we only have one, and each is magically unique in its own way. It is only when we view things with our heart that we see our truest and the heart is the embodyment of the essence of the human spirit. Medieval Christian theologians associated the unicorn symbolism with Christ and the Virgin Mary and in general, it represents, love of mankind, gentleness, chasity, purity, and strength. All of these are things that make us human and represent a part of the heart of humanity.

This was created from a pencil sketch I made and scanned into photoshop where I digitally inked the unicorn and background. The heart snow was created using a snow brush tool I made. The filigree guilding that holds the hearts on the body of the unicorn were created from several tattoo designs I have in my gallery. The hearts are also created from my tattoo designs.
