Description
So, since I'm trapped/stuck/holed up in my house during the largest snow storm for our state this year I figured that I'd try to do something constructive today. And after making my way home from a half day of work through the blizzard, getting stuck 3 times, and digging myself out I felt that some good old computer coloring would be fun.Here's the colored version of my pencil drawing of Inque from Batman Beyond. I really like how it turned out. Instead of going with a straight black coloring with the color "highlighted" in, I went with a deeper purple and then built highlights upon that. The background is a screen capture from Batman Beyond--gotta love purchasing the seasons on DVD. I then tweaked it to get the scratchy, fuzzy look that Batman Beyond's intro has and I feel that it's successful. To complete the process, I placed a nice layer of black to force the color to pop which I felt was much better than a traditional white background.

True, but for someone that is striving to break free from all the hassles & trouble of the rat race it seems that only having a desirable style and skills will get you paid art jobs.

That's partly true, but not entirely. Uniqueness is also desirable, as what is considered "mainstream" (Bagley-esque or Lee-esque) may not work for the particular mood of a story (such as noir).

I like the coloring effects you've got going on here with the purple on purple, and the filters you used on the BG are sweet. @.@

I really like how Inque is shaded and the stance that she is in, I alo like the one eye being drasticly bigger than the other, however the background is to washed out. It is well done but the slashes of red are too long and cause the peice to look fuzzy or im going blind..... but I really like the feel of the movement of the scarf/arm. So I would just change the background to be less red by making the slashes of red smaller.

Well, bro, you're not going blind. It was supposed to be blurry and/or fuzzy because the intro to the series had Bats fighting a bunch of villains while the screen is all fuzzy/blurry except for him. So I tried to capture that feel with this one.
I'll try to sneak over to the Block to bother you.
