In the dystopian land, infractions are handled by an algorithm designed by the government, leading to even the smallest crimes being arrestable offenses. The system determines when to send the police to handle crimes, and offenders are no longer ticketed or handled with care, but handcuffed and sent to reeducation and detainment cells.

Maya was an artist who simply tried to live her life the best she could with her younger sister. When her sister was determined to have committed an infraction for shoplifting, Maya pleaded to the officers to let herself take the fall instead. Maya felt the cold cuffs on her wrists and she was taken away to serve time in a detention cell, another name turned into a prisoner number in the cruel city.
