" BETTLE BULB " Character concept.graphite & Photoshop.
A very bad bug that is the main bodyguard for the evil Mantis! Built like a tank and just as though, as you can see all the scars and cracks, he's been around many battles.
From the mind of Matt Shirley, " KORBAN The Leaf eater " A children's story in the works.
I had a joy of a time doing the research and designing of this guy as well as the rest of the bugs from this awesome story.

Rhino beetles are very amazing creatures, maybe some day I'll own one as pet, I love insects. i had too built him as tough as nails. the perfect fighting machine!

I never had reptiles, amphibians or any kind of creature that would need somewhat of a terrarium kind of environment.... I bet it's a lot of fun! I always imagined I'd have a HUUUGE tank so I could put some plants that are somewhat from their environment to make them happy :'D Didn't realize that you can own rhino beetles!
And I can totally see that "tough as nails" design in there. I like how his shape is still that of a rhino beetle, but when you look up, you'll see all the battle scars! D; Would love to see an action shot of him in a battle!!!
