I still find Aether's ability to cast magic from light/soul a bit hard to comprehend, light I understood, but soul? :3

Hehe, let the grandmaster of aether (out of storytechnical necessarity) explain: Aether is elemental magic and thus controls an element.Aether is the element of essence or soul, thus works with mind soul and such things.
Additionally there is the so called aether light, which is basically ones own soul. This thing can be projected as second body, giving you it's sensory input (including pain) and is fully controlable, it even can be called back into your body anytime.
I won't go into too much details now, but aether users usually have abilities dealing with mind/soul like telepathy, changing moral or influencing others.

Now regarding ars dynamicus: Atleast projected aether users (the other type is adopted, where you basically have the soul of another being) are able to reshape their light (only to some extend without needing to incubate it), but particularly able to wrap it around themselves, using it as shield or fortification. And they can project their light's limbs out of their body to use them as additional ones.

Of all elements are the two astute ones (Aether and Void) the most complicated, and while void is quite easy to understand is aether really complicated xD

That would explain Animatio Rerum considerably. I imagine the spell work by projecting your soul into the object, able to control it as your own body like an out of body experience and basically possessing another body.

That's basically what it is, but experts would even be possible to split their soul apart and just implant a small piece of their soul or control multiple objects. This however would most likely work only with projected lights, adopted aether users would need other techniques, like extrasensory control or relying on other magic (maybe even the lights magic [hope that it's a magic user])

But yeah, that's why you could even create aetherzombies with it, you possess objects like a ghost in your average trash horror movie. :3

Aether and Void elemental magic seems very dangerous, what with splitting your soul. Then again WTWE's definition and property of soul probably differs from our more religious spiritual idea of soul.

They both are quite dangerous.
Particularly aether, because if your light is destroyed, you're dead, if a part is destroyed, a part of you dies.If a aether enchantment is forcefully destroyed or damaged (or whatever it does/projects, like an aether blade), it could cut your very soul when wielded.
But your light is extremely durable (much more than your weak body) and cannot be destroyed without magic. And especially, it doesn't take damage like you do, because it's not made up of flesh and bones, and what isn't there cannot be damaged or need healing (or shut down body functions).

So it's nothing you normally worry about, especially because aether magic and its users are mostly pacifistic, so are most uses.

Void is about the opposite, and the particularly dangerous about it is actually just overloading, thus absorbing too much or keeping it too long just plain kills you.Else absorbing death is not recommended, but well, who would try that, either way? xDD

Absorbing death? Death is lifelessness, lacking in mind and soul, almost void to some degree, to think of void absorbing death.... mind buck.

Guess you have to imagine death as a process here
