Description So, the dreaded day has come, eh?

First things first: I AM STAYING.
If you are leaving deviantART, however, here are my other socials: Where to find me!

I joined deviantART on June 21st, 2014- Almost 6 years ago by now. I came from YouTube, where my focus hadn't been art. I was still pretty much a beginner when I came here, and this was the first art site I'd ever been on.

Slowly I began meeting new people, making friends, exchanging favourites, comments and even art with so so many amazing artists. Unfortunately, people move on, and sometimes even disappear. There's a lot of people I'm not as close with as I used to be, as well as a lot of people I have no way of contacting anymore. But even if they may not be a part of my life currently, they still greatly impacted my life, and even if things with certain friends may have gotten a bit rocky at times, I still cherish the experiences I gathered.

One of my favourite things about the site was its customisability, in particular Custom boxes and Journal Skins. It was a lot of fun changing up the look for your page however you liked, even if it had some rules there were tricks to push those limits further to create even a wider (quite literally) variety of pages. I loved how every page you went on had the possibility of looking completely different! I'm very sorry for all the awesome people who provided codes and coding resources for everyone, as well as free pixels, buttons, dividers, stamps and the like. They were a great help for me, and many other people- it's a shame most of that is no longer usable. And while I wouldn't say I really know how to code (especially since dA had its own tricks that don't work on other sites), coding on dA is what taught me at least the basics, and now it's something I actually enjoy! I've already forgotten most of my CSS knowledge tho, but... At least the html skills do come in handy on sites like Toyhouse.

The very first art pieces I posted, as probably for many other people, were MSPaint doodles. While I'm not sure how good one would consider my art even now, I've definitely come a long way. In my personal opinion, incredibly so. Through deviantART, I've been able to discover the art and creativity of thousands of people, receive advice for what I'm struggling on from fellow artists, and observe the artistic growth of all those artists and more alongside myself. My art would not be what it is today without all of that. Even when sometimes I've felt like giving up, that tiny bit of encouragement from occassional comments kept me trying. They were quite scarce from the start, but that just meant I cherished them all the more. Even today, receiving even a simple "this looks really nice" kinda comment makes me smile, and I'm always excited to get to show you all a new art piece I've made.

Not only did being here improve my art when it comes to drawings, but also character creation! I already had some characters of my own before I joined, but being here definitely had a huGE impact on what kind of characters and stories I'm able to create. One of my fondest memories from this site is how in 2015 someone randomly gifted me some points, I don't think they were even watching me, and I then used those points to buy my very first adopt. Even more than that, there's a story I've been working on for nearly five years now, and it all began from me being very inspired to create a story around two characters I bought soon after the one I just mentioned. And I'll hopefully be telling that story to all of you in the near future!

If I may say so myself, I've greatly grown as a person thanks to all of it. From ages to 13 through near 19 now, this place, and the people I've met here, have shaped me into who I am today. I've moved accounts a few times, and tried various other platforms too, but through this entire journey, deviantART has been my home. I don't know if it'll still feel like home once everything changes, but even if it won't, I'll still remember it by what it once used to be. I want to thank all of those that have been a part of my journey so far, and I hope you'll continue to in the future as well! <33

So, what does this mean going forward?
Well, as I said already at the start of this, I am in fact going to stay here, at least for the time being. Eclipse may suck but this site is still my home, and I'd be darned if I didn't at least try to get used to the change, no matter how hard it may be. I've been switching in an out of it in preparation- I've got this.
There will be some minor changes though, that most of are probably true for most everyone who's staying on the site.
  • My page will obviously look different than it used to, but I'll try my best to make it look alright even with the limited options we have now.
  • The "Featured" section of my Gallery will now only have artwork that I'm proud enough of to display on my page. Still will hopefully be most of it, but it's very likely that a lotta pieces that otherwise would've been good enough to go there now might not. So, it's even more important now to check the "All" section if you wanna see everything!
  • I'll be reorganising my Gallery folders to hopefully make the whole thing more condensed, which at the time of posting I've probably already done. Many of my older folders are now sub-folders in a different one, so if you're not seeing an older folder you're looking for, be sure to check some of the others!
  • I'll most likely be changing the formatting of my posts a little, as the notice thing I have at the bottom looks kinda cramped on Eclipse. Nothing major, but yeah, I might not keep repeating the copyright notices, saving instructions etc- They should honestly go without saying.

Other than that, I don't think things are gonna change much. I'll be posting as per usual, in fact, I just opened commissions as well, if you'd like to check those out.

It'll take a while to get used to the new site, but hey, it's a learning process for all of us!
Keep on keeping on everyone, hope to see ya'll still around, or on other platforms if you won't be staying for Eclipse!! <33
