Description

Ichigo is the first character to appear in my fan comic: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5Ag4G…
Satoshi Ishino has by far, or had, the best character art in Tokyo Mew Mew 2002, to get his Style right, I followed Ishino and redid the character designs by Mari Kitayama.

Comparing Satoshi Ishino to Mari Kitayama (character designer for Tokyo mew mew 2002) In the first picture, for Ichigo, Satoshi makes her hair go beyond the chin level with very thin tendrils of hair at the sides. The tails on the back of the head are much bigger and curve down to the sides rather than just fall. You might notice the eyes are different from Ishino’s very distinctive eyes, but I discuss that in the next image, the shape of the face in Kitayama’s style is wider, closer to Mia Ikumi’s style but Ishino’s slightly angular and thinner face makes for a more realistic look, the jaw is ever so slightly defined which avoids the boring pointy jaw often used in other anime, the shape of the nose also gets more defined with a dark triangle defining it, instead of using the stupid dot overused with female characters nowadays.

Second Image, Mew Ichigo’s cat ears are sharp with pointy hair strands at the bottom sides and sometimes, furry ear tips, up the forehead her hair is more pronounced with the triangular shape, ironically, Ishino draws much smaller eyes from this point of view, he avoids the flowy hair Kitayama uses and makes it smaller with strands of hair within it. The nose is pointier and more pronounced, and the mouth is also defined by a line between the lips allowing for moving the actual lips in animation, instead of drawing a mouth animated in a different layer/plane.

In the third image, the eyelashes are thinner, not just here but almost in almost all scenarios.
