He's like an adopted son to him.
In my story, the true heir of Scar is Mheetu, son of Scar and Sarafina, the wise son which Scar pound the most (yup, in my story he have some cubs with the lionesses in the pride).
But after Mheetu's run away from Scar, he becomes very upset about losing his one and only heir.
Zira tries to offer her son Nuka as new heir, but Scar rejects the poor weak cub. Nuka is the last cub which born from Scar.
Since his madness grew and grew... his love interested in lioness is decreased because of his mental issue.
Some fellow lionesses were forced to go hunting far away from their land, meet a male rogue and got pregnant.
I'm going to make it shorter. Zira still wants to impress Scar and want to offer him a new heir even though she pregnant with some random rogue, but what she got is a female cub, Vitani.
While her sister (My OC) give birth to a healthy male cub, Kovu. She tries to ask her to give up her male cub to offer Scar but she didn't want to.... she wants to run away from Scar and will take her cub with her to start a new life with her mate from Outland
Zira manages to take him away from her sister somehow (I will draw about it later) and take this cub to Scar as it was her own.
Scar see something in this cub which reminds him of his favorite son Mheetu and also remind him of himself.
So that's when Scar decided that if he wants to pass his role to someone he must forget about Mheetu and go no.
He accepted Kovu as his new heir since then.. Not long before Simba's came and reclaim his throne

This would have been freaky if that happened at a Post Credit scene in the 2nd movie, and it will have too many fans asking for another sequel (You know, Lion King III.) not a prequel (God 1 1/2 sucked.) seriously Kovu having a nightmare of Scar being alive, and Scar killing Kiara in the dream would have traumatized me as a child.
