I NEVER thought the day would come, when the word EPIC would be an UNDERSTATEMENT! I don't think there's a word in the English DICTIONARY for how cool this is! The only thing that I can think of is, INSPIRATIONAL! Its both beautiful, and life like. It looks like it belongs in a Conan movie or something !

How long have you been using a tablet? I just...can't get the same results on mine. I really just need to get a cintiq.

About three years. It did take a while to get used to, but now I prefer drawing on a tablet because my hand doesn't block the image. I tested a Cintiq in the store but to be honest it's pretty hard to find a store with a demo of one. I just happen to come across one. I would do some research into a cintiq before you buy, its got some issues. Theirs a lag time between the time you make a stroke and the stroke is actually made, and some people are complaining of line jitter near the edges of the screen. The contrast ratio on the screen is low, way to low for me, all the images looked grayed out with no deep blacks. Also it too small, I have an extra large Wacom and a triple screen setup.

Thank you for the reply, it was very helpful.
Also, if I could ask, what is your process when rendering? Do you scan in pencil lineart, start with blocks of color, or just freehand?

Everything is done digitally. I always start out in black and white, and I use shapes instead of lines. By the time I start with color the drawing is mostly rendered.

I do that too, work in grayscale and color it with overlay, right?
Anyway, love your dragons.

I don't always use overlay. I try to experiment with the other layer effects. I also use lighten, multiply, and colorize often.

Good work! The shading and the details both on the dragon and the background are very nice, and the posing is great.

Nice Lighting. A bi small wing-muscles but who cares?
Dragon armor - as the artist also knew! - is impenetrable from the outside. No chance you can hit the eye, the nose, but no chance you can take on by chopping the wings. The dragons' are only vulnerable from the inside. Magic or might (with an axe) is for the hero's choice. You can charge the mouth but that too is armored a bit and you can be incinerated from the fire breath easier. The best is to cut it's throat from the inside before you reach the flaming stomach. It is like 50-50

Someone's about to get pwned, that's for sure
The lighting is very interesting, normally you see more of a warm light in dragon pictures to go with the flame but this is a welcome reprieve!

ah but you have to remove cavities, don't you know?
