*Brainiax and its' evolutions are based off the human brain, and an ever increasing level of knowledge. They are also based off the idea of mad science, as well as the concept of an "Evil Mastermind", taking the term literally. The line could also be seen as having cybernetic enhancements as well, with all the mechanized parts. Maniax is specifically based off the idea of a mind breaking, or suffering from mental instability, or brain damage, again, taken literally.
