"Liar," Firo said first, trotting forward and stopping only when he had passed Thistle, whipping around to face him. And even as much shorter as he was, the tortoiseshell glared with all of the vehemence of a fox up into the tall cat's eyes. "Idiot! Idiot! What were you thinking?! Forget whatever the hell you were doing before I arrived-- get out of here?! Trying to tell me to leave! Did that lynx knock your brain loose?! You could have died-- you could have DIED. Is your stupid, pointless pride worth dying for? What are you trying to prove? Who are you trying to prove it to!?"
Chest heaving from his outburst, Firo clenched his jaw tightly, eyes searching Thistle's.

Liar - trying to prove - where the hell had that come from? Mar'd stopped in his tracks, taut paws like brittle roots on the ground, staring down at an infuriated Marble and listening to his words with rising indignity and humiliation. A kitten talking down to a silver, that's what this was - and with disgust, and a fatigue born of his battle, a reviling nausea curdled hotly in the chausie's throat. His lips drew up from his fangs in a silent snarl, even as an insufferable heat, an inescapable feeling, flooded beneath his torn pelt. Now that he stood free of adrenaline, it was really beginning to hurt - he would not admit, however, that it was a sickening sort of embarrassment that hurt even worse, and he was only diminished in patience. "What the hell are you talking about," he growled, though he already most painfully and indignantly aware; he stepped forward, pushing himself past the younger tom. "I don't need to prove anything to anyone, least of all - " and he found he did not want to draw the energy to finish.
But just as quickly, a fresh wave of feverish defense was flung up, and he grated through borne teeth, "Just shut up - you know nothing," and he ducked his head into the forest, loosing a gravelly bark, "Now, leave me alone."

Narrowing his eyes, Firo spun around and followed at his heels, opening his mouth to speak. Then, thinking again, he clenches his jaw and jumps forward, cutting the other off once more. He isn't going to let Thistle get away from him.
"Then why are you so damn willing to risk your life?" he demanded, tail lashing as he all but paced in front of the taller cat. "Why would you tell me to leave, while you're gushing blood, when you can't see straight? It can't possibly been to've protected me. You wouldn't let yourself believe that for a second. So why else? Why would you turn away help in such a dire situation?" The fur along his spine was still standing on end, and he finally stopped moving, planting himself firmly in front of the other and staring him down. "Answer me, Thistle. Why? Tell me why." He wouldn't let the other walk away, wouldn't let him get away with buffering the questions or avoiding them. Answer me.
