Do you sketch your characters first, then scan it? I like how definite the lines are, mine are very sketchy and really messy at times. I think I really like her hair in this one.

My normal process is pencil sketch with regular wood pencils, then I get more detailed with a mechanical pencil.  After that I ink by hand with Copic inking pens.  I havent found my art supplies yet so Im inking with a ballpoint pen for everything lately .  And since I cant find my scanner right now, Im just taking photos of the completed sketches with my camera phone and emailing them to myself.

Alright, cool. Usually I like keeping my sketches as it is, because I think it looks better that way. If I ink, I mess up, lol. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Well alot of people scan in just their sketches and then ink them digitally.  Or they just trace over the original sketch onto another piece of paper and then ink that.  I always have that sense of panic that if I mess up the inking process Ill have to start all over again. lol.

True. That sense of panic is always with me on traditional art. I can't ctrl+z in real life, after all.

I do that to alot of my pictures.

In PS I merge all color layers, duplicate that layer, Filter>Gaussian Blur (set it to 25-35) then decrease Opacity to 50%-75% and adjust hue to desaturate that layer.

Afterwards I go through the different screens for that layer, I usually use Hard Light or Vivid, but this one I used Soft Light.
