Description
For a while now I've been working on and off on Castlevania-themed playing cards! I still have two joker designs, the ace of spades, and the back designs to sketch, and I'm considering drawing the letters, numbers, and suits in a Castlevania-y style.I don't know if I'll actually get these printed as playing cards though. After they're completely finished I'll look into it.
So they are, from top right to bottom left:
Leon Belmont, Simon Belmont, Death, Walt Disn- I mean Dracula, Maria Renard, Sonia Belmont, Camilla/Carmilla, Succubus, Soma Cruz, Richter Belmont, Walter Bernhard, Alucard.
I put the 'good' characters on the red suits and the 'bad' characters on the black suits. Alucard isn't evil, but he also isn't human so he gets to be with the other creatures of the night. Soma meanwhile could be considered evil, but since he is human and a protagonist I put him on a red suit.
It was incredibly hard narrowing down the characters I wanted on the cards! I was trying to include as many different games in here as I could, but I still ended up doubling up on a few games, and even getting three characters from Symphony of the Night.
And I tried to pick characters that are relevant to the story, rather than the more popular characters. Like Carmilla, I picked her Circle of the Moon design even though that game is more or less noncanon, just because she's been a recurring villain and is getting bigger and bigger roles since Circle of the Moon. Succubus likewise, she often has speaking roles. This particular Succubus the one from Symphony of the Night, but wearing the outfit of the one from Lament of Innocence. I figured I'd keep these cards PG.
On the subject o Carmilla and Succubus, I got their suits switched. I drew everyone in poses similar to actual face cards, but when I drew Succubus I ended up looking at the wrong card I drew her in the queen of spades pose when she was supposed to be queen of clubs. It's not too big of a deal, but I just thought you might like to know.
Okay now one more thing before I finally finish talking - that little doodle that I know you're wondering about, it's El Tigre.
