Description I'm going to have to go get an actual good scan of the final product. It's going to be my new deviant ID.

So here's how I take that scary looking scribble in the top left corner into a pic that looks somewhat decent.

Maybe one day I'll make a real tutorial. But my prismacolor style is really really weird. I don't think I use them the way you're supposed to.

Sorry the colors are so bad on this. The white looks 1000 x better in real life. Good scan of the final coming soon.

Okay, step by step here goes:

1. Sketch- easy eh? Don't make it look like this one though, this one scares me. xD
2. Simple outline in pen
3. Lay down the first base of color. this always looks really messy when I do this. The base on the white is actually blue, but you can't tell on this scan.
4. Blend using a colorless blender and white. The colorless blender for the color and white for the white and the highlights.
5. Go back and add more shadows.
6. Blend with the colorless blender again.
7. Clean up using the colors and white (for highlights) again. You can layer as many times as it takes to get things smooth looking. I overuse white.
8. Outline with a really sharp black prisma.

Yay!

Btw, if you download it it's a lot bigger.

Thank you! Knowing how other people draw helps a lot in improving your own style So yeah, I'm gonna get a little better thanks to you Anyway, I love your style. And no pencis have the one and only right way to use them, so the more crazy your way of coloring seems, the better it is
Now.. I'm off to experiment with what I've learned from you (I really need to get myself a blender :/ )

I concur. Experimenting with others' styles help you figure out what makes you comfortable and aids you in finding your own.

Thanks, Laur.
