Description
Fan art for the Fallout: New Vegas DLC, Honest Hearts. Featuring Joshua Graham and Daniel.I greatly enjoyed Joshua and Daniel in Honest Hearts. They both came from similar backgrounds in New Canaan but their lives took them on two very different roads.
Like most things in the Fallout universe, neither character was completely black and white. They both had noble virtues and terrible shortcomings. The way they were written made them come across as very human and honest.
Title taken from the "Lead the Sorrows out of Zion" ending. "...but for the rest of [Daniel's] life there were nights when he awoke with sadness to find he had been dreaming of Zion."

I got the ending where none of them leave and keep their home land, it's the best ending for the game.

It's sad. Both were right and wrong in their own way. But in the end, what does it matter. Even if they leave Zion, what's to stop another group from trampling on them. If you can't fight in the Wasteland, you can't survive. Joshua saw this.

You honestly feel a sense of guilt if you side with Joshua, especially if you truly believe that he is right. Really, by siding with Joshua, you are crushing any hope that the tribes can live peaceful lives. They are forced to accept that they can never be safe, not really. They will always and forever be as paranoid and untrusting as every other crazy wastelander. But the saddest part of that is that if they aren't....then they have no hope of surviving. They can't just live lives of security and pacifism. They have to be ruthless. They have to be suspicious. They have to be ready. They have to fight. Cause if they don't, then the wasteland will swallow them up faster than the very bombs that created it. Maybe Daniel knew this all along. Maybe he knew that there was no other way to survive out there. But he didn't want to accept that as the reality. He hoped that he could save these people from becoming like all the others. But he can't. Joshua, however, accepted the reality. He knew that this was how the world works. He knew that they couldn't survive Daniel's way. He knew that unless they fought, unless they became like all the others....then they would all be dead. And your Courier knew this too. He had seen the horrors the wasteland provided, and he wanted to keep the tribes from facing those horrors unprepared. But did you or Joshua like it? Never. How could you? You were forcing these people to give up their way of life for their own sake. In order to keep them alive, you had to destroy what made them them. You feel that sharp pang of guilt whenever you side with Joshua. Because you know what he believes shouldn't be the reality. It shouldn't be the only option. It shouldn't be right. But it is. And the Courier knows this. And he feels guilt.

I loved the DLC, but the part I've always hated is that someone always loses, no matter what ending you take.
If you evacuate Zion, the once-beautiful place is turned into a polluted cistern.
If you wipe out the White Legs, the Sorrows become warlike.
It's...sad.

How have I not seen this picture before?! I loves it. Both figures look great, and I'm so happy to see an inclusion of Daniel. He is deffinitely my favorite New Vegas character and I don't think he gets enough love.

Well its not like Daniel was perfect either
1.He lied to Walking Cloud about her husband
2.He still seems to harbor some resentment towards Joshua(understandable but still.....rather unchristian for a missionary/preacher)
3.His solution is just a stop gap when you think about it the White Legs wanted the Mormons/New Canaanites DEAD(x_X) to join the legion and likely saw the sorrows and dead horses as offshoots if not brand NEW new Canaanites (how many "Disciples of Canaan" did we see in zion?) they would have followed them out of Zion since nothing could stop them and they didn't have as much slowing them down

Irionic that no matter what you do is that Daniel can never end up happy.
Maybe an option to show force but also show war can be terrible

I found that very ironic too; there was no "right" ending.

Yeah. But I like the option for a everyone but the villain is happy. Sadly in the both main and Honest Hearts you only get mostly cause the tribes lose respect for Daniel and occasionally fight in the best ending

As much as I love Joshua (always go with the Badass Preacher-Man,) I do have to admit that you gave Daniel a very nice butt.

Haha, thank you!
I admit, I probably redrew Daniel's butt three times to make sure I had it just right without going overboard.

Thanks. He's definitely one of my favourite characters in Fallout: NV. I wish I could have taken him with me when I left Zion.

I did, indeed! :3 It's my plan to make a drawing for each of the Fallout: NV DLCs. I have a few sketches of the main story's companions as well, which I might clean up and post later on.
I just love Fallout: NV so much!
