Really love how you portrayed him 
Though, i haven't read many theories, but i do have one of my own about
the gender. As you do get a bit of an inside in the game. Like one note that
tells about that Val did run an orphanage, but could not get any children of
his or her own. As well as a few notes say's its a he. Which might explain the
dress, yet clear male features. So maybe Val wants to become a girl and have
children of his/her own. But can't due to his given gender.
As well as at the point you meet him or her again, Blake's brain is pretty
much just a delusional mess. So you can't really trust anything he sees
at that point. So maybe he or she doesn't really have those female body
parts at all. Maybe its just Blake's brain thinking that he/she has them.
Sorry the long post xD I just think Val is such a interesting character and game in general.
And you made me so happy that you drew such an well representation of him/her

isnt it more likely that the people using masculine pronouns simply assumed she was male due to her haircut/voice/physique? when she's wearing clothes it's difficult to tell ..but the idea that blake ONLY hallucinated a pair of breasts and female genitalia is just absurd...not to mention she climbs on top of blake in the mines and rapes him off-screen (which also got the game banned in australia)

Im not saying thats the ONLY thing he hallucinates. Im saying Blake loses his mind gradually through out the game. And you can't take anything thats happening literary. Not even the ending. Which is why you can't trust anything thats happening. If you've played the game, you should know. But if not, you can just look it up.
And Val is sometimes referred to as a "he" in notes. Which is sort of why i came up with my own theory. Even if its true or not, i dont really care. As its only but a theory, and nothing more. You're allowed to believe Val is a female if you want to. Have your own theory.

First of all, thank you! ;w; I tried making them as androgynous as possible honestly, especially since I think I made this the 2nd day after the game came out and no one even got to the point in the game where you see Val for the second time. I had almost no reference to work with. lol
But I didn't think about the fact Blake's sanity could be playing a role, rather just accepted it's a female after all. It throws me back to not being so sure again. haha And I don't mind the brainstorming, it's the character that definitely caught my attention the most, and I tried not reading too much about the story of Outlast 2 in general so I could actually see it through without spoilers.

Well the first time i played through the game, i didn't quiet
catch on to the fact that Blake starts to lose his mind. But after
seeing Mark play through it, and reading some about it, its really
hard to know whats real and whats not in this game x) I feel
even Val's voice changes the second time you meet him/her.
So its a pretty mindfuck game to say the least ^^'
Though i think allot more will come clear if they decide to launch
a DLC to this game. As well as I'm sure Mark or Game Theory
will crack a few codes and make up some pretty good theories :3c

I think I'll rewatch the gameplay as well after I finish it the first time, and really hoping for the DLC because I hate to have a game end without laying out the whole story. Too much curiosity. xD
The story overall is so convoluted and broken apart by Blake's hallucinations it's really hard to tell what's what the first time you finish the game.

I was also a little confused about his gender, cause some website said Val was woman, but there is letter in the game written by somebody named Ruth and they talk about Val as "He" so...

He definitely looks male though. But I read somewhere while trying to find references for this drawing, and they said that later in the game it becomes obvious he is in fact a she. So the only thing that comes to mind is that Val is just trans, and somehow these religious extremists still accepted that. lol
Either way, I just love this character. x3
