On a cold ,crisp, clear and starry night, if you gaze at the sky long enough, you might just see this. This is the view of the vast space that surrounds us.

Earth is merely a speck of dust somewhere on the edge of the milky way galaxy where distances are measured in 'light years'! Unfortunately the way our earth is situated, we can only see the edge or the thin part of the galaxy which looks like the familiar milky way. Otherwise this view could be of our neighbor galaxy; Andromeda!
