I never had the heart to do this. To tell the truth I wasn't all that shocked when it happened and the Grand Cleric wasn't my favorite person. I know it wasn't right of him to do this...but I get why he went through with it. Especially with Justice (now Vengeance) driving him.ย
It is amazing how you capture the pain and tragedy in this one single frame. It is gorgeous and terrifying at the same time.

I've played rpg's where people did drastic things in the name oof war or revolution, most of which made whats Anders did look like a child's prank, specifically, the Suikoden seires comes to mind. And in the case of the 1st game, if you wanted to get the best ending, you had to spare and recruit a group of enemy generals, 1 of which destroyed an entire town, another killed the hero's mentor/guardian. I always did, and so I figured, if those generals deserved a chance at redemption, then Anders most certainly does, so I was never able to bring myself to kill him.

I was soooo angry with Anders, like so angry, but something about him just makes my heart swell XD He reminds me of my girlfriend so it's so hard not to stay mad at him <3 ...My girlfriend isn't a renegade mage who wants to destroy churches BUT she's not keen on them XD

Yes.... this is so very sad. But it tells the conclusion of his story in very profound way.
I was torn. I romanced him but my F!Hawke mage was incredibly angry with him for so many reasons. She almost did it. I ended up sparing him because I wanted to see that ending, but will likely reload a save and kill him so I can see that one too, as well as one where I break up with him during the battle, and pick what feels most canon for her.
Even if I do keep the one where they run off together, he's gonna get a punch in the face and a whole lot of ranting and crying before she's over it.

I must admit, this is most touching moment in whole game for me. I saw my character stabbing Anders only once.. and through my tears.. what is most intriguing I wasnยดt drunk, stoned... it just hit me so deeply. Iยดm no softie, I swear...

and thus is the reason why even if he pisses me off I can't kill him. Because bioware added that little scene after you stab him -_- I had to watch that on youtube because I just didn't want to see my character stab him.

As far as I'm concerned, Anders is the true (tragic) hero and real protagonist of DA2... My Hawke was just along for the ride to offer him comfort, love, and support (and probably co-wrote his manifesto! Lol! Lol! Lol!)...
