This reminds me of the DS9 Episode "Trials and Tribble-ations" When The crew of DS9 is thrown back in time to Deep Space K7 during the events of "The trouble with Tribbles" thanks to Arne Darvin, They used digital compositing to put them on the TOS episode reels.
