Description
Here's my workspace with a bunch of possible bits and bobs that will go between the dragon image and the elaborate border decoration. I certainly won't be using all of these things! These are just several possibilities that I liked for their colors and patterns. I'll start by gluing down the pieces that I know I want (such as the amethysts and agates that are already sitting on the artwork), then I'll work out and around from there with other things, laying them down to see how the colors look together. What I do not want is to overpower the dragon or the border with the decorations. So even though you see a lot of stuff here, I may end up using only a little bit of it. I might also dig into my swirly rhinestone designs, depending on how much space I want to eat up. It's a balancing act, and as you've seen from some of my other work, sometimes I just don't know when to quit. All the 3-D bits are labeled.
The dragon design was done with ink, watercolor, Prismacolor pencils, and a tiny bit of gel pen.
The border design is Prismacolor pencils over a watercolor/salt wash.
The blue-green board behind the border and dragon is acrylic.
More to see in the Deep Rising 11 Folder.

Thank you! Though like most selfies, this is very much a posed picture.
Now I need room to actually do all the work, so all that stuff is going to be piled onto a utility table behind me.

I love pics like this that show an artist's workspace. I was on an Easter egg hunt looking for the little octopus guy and sadly didn't find him.

Thanks! I'm trying to remember to take photos between phases of this project, since it's such an involved piece. I've been asked about my thought process before, so I hope that this goes some way to answering those kinds of questions.
LOL - I had to clear off my drafting table in order to fit the project and the doodads in the space. The wee Cthulhu is on a table behind me with all the rest of the stuff that normally takes up all that space.
