It's that time again - yes, we're nearly ready to release the Dragon Adventure III Kaleidoscopia coloring book into the wild! This book contains some of my other fantasy drawings, as well as a bunch of new dragons.The drawing here is one of several cover illustrations we tried out. The publisher wanted me to try this design with the originally envisioned warm-and-cool color combination, as well as the inverse, to see what appealed the most. While we did not decide to use this illustration for the cover, I had a lot of fun coloring the variations.

Oooh, very nice! I have to say that I find I like the colors on the left image just a tad bit more. I just love the shiny, nearly metallic look to the fire lady's golden feathery armor stuff. (Jeez, that sounded kind of lame. But I'm not sure what to call it.

LOL - "golden feathery armor stuff" is the technical term. I decree it so.
My sister took me to see the Firebird ballet several years ago. It made a big impression. I wanted to capture a bit of the pas-des-deux, where Ivan is swinging Firebird all over the stage.

The only ballet I've ever seen is the Nutcracker, courtesy of my parents dragging me to it multiple times as a kid during Christmastime.
I'd definitely like to see others, especially if there's a chance to be creatively and artistically inspired.

I remember and LOVED this lineart! such an awesome one to color and to see everyone's versions, they look really cool (hot?) in fire and ice colors, both versions!

Thanks very much! I've colored it three separate times - I actually enjoyed it every time. Granted, digital coloring is a looooooot quicker.
