Description After seeing the artwork "M.97 Specter" by ~Epicsunrise here's the link, [link] The idea came to me to make the Ruger Mini-14 rifle. After a few minutes of tweaking the Ruger Mini-14 from PMG was born! Black polymer stock and grip, Stainless-Steel coated parts.

If someone could design a reliable STANAG mag adapter that works with the existing magwell for the Mini 14, people would love him/her.

I like the standard wood stock and bluing on mine. The only gripes: The lack of a M1/M14 style knob adustable rear iron sights, the lack of a AR stripper clip guide, the lack of a flash hider as from the factory, and the discontinuation of the old classic side folder.

That's a fair critique of the rifle, do you own one with the STANAG conversion? If so, how reliable is it? I don't know anyone that owns one, or is a gunsmith enough to put one on themselves. If it had the old adjustable sights from the factory, that would be nice. In my opinion, the rifle was made for "Plinking" not matched target practice. Even with all that aside, it would have been nice to have the M1 or the M14-style rear irons either way... Believe me, they would be put good use if it were me, no matter what I was doing with it.

Mine is not STANAG compatible, nor have I seen any conversions. It is however, reliable with both the factory mag and the four pinned standard cap mags I have (I live in Canada, and we have that damned five round limit for semi-auto centerfire rifles). It wasn't that expensive to have an AR style flash hider installed on mine. I have to resort to that path because mine is one of the newer 580 series and there were few available at the time.

Accuracy-wise, they are good at normal carbine ranges, and they are not a good choice if one wants a long range .223.

Fair enough, I know they have conversion kits for the Mini-14, though. With the modified flash-hider, what sight setup do you have now?

I just had my front sight set back just enough to thread the end of the barrel for the flash hider.

It basically looks like the Ruger Mini 14 tactical with a wood stock.

I see, check this out! They made a Mini-14 in an Enhanced Rifle like the M14 EBR. [link] That's insane!

Crazier yet, they have an EBR stock for the M1 Garand. They should hurry up and make one for the M1 carbine. I'm sure those would sell like hotcakes.

It is, the Black and "silver" (stainless steel) are the way it comes from the factory, Black and stainless, Woodgrain and Blued Finish, are the two I know of factory stock.

Nice, what's the performance? Say, the grouping at 75 yards?

When you do, take a grouping photograph and submit it for me! I've been wanting to compare the grouping to the M4 carbine I used a while back.
