Description
First bigger piece of personal art in a very, very long time, really. Last time I spent more than a few hours on a picture of my own sona was... what? September 13th, 2015, with the render 'Moonflight'. Geeze, was that really a year ago?(Also literally big - this is 5000px wide. I originally planned this to be a group picture but got inspiration elsewhere)
Anyway, I've always, always, always loved the auroras. They're just so beautiful and magical. My previous attempts are drawing them have ended in kinda... failure.
Lots of practice here, also. Lighting, color, as usual, but also a bit of anatomy with help from Scaleeth ! <3 (Ty!) She helped me adjust the head, neck, and shoulders/legs when they were bothering me in the sketch phase. I also googled a lot more references of mountains to make this range look more realistic, if a liiiiittle overdone!
Anyway, for once, I'm really satisfied with the end result of a picture! Took me all day today and a long time yesterday. ^^

Thank you!! It definitely took a long time and a lot of redrawing the background, but it was worth it

Oh. Flight in the night with aurora reflected on the membrane of your wings. The sight of it never was so much beautiful before.
Really nice work.

Ahhh auroras. <3 Read somewhere that during winter I could just travel up north some hours and might have a chance of seeing them... Aurorae hunting, this sounds like a plan!
Beautiful as always Rackie!

Ohh nice I could probably do similar when I'm home in the states, but it'd be a lot of hours.
Thank you! <3

It's already a lot of driving hours for me to begin with. xDD But hey, it sounds like a fun adventure so it's worth the time!
No problem. :3

5000px wide? That's cute.
Even though I live in the cold north of norway, I live in what norwegians call the south (which is around the top of the hudson bay, we have a fucked up world perspective), so I don't see it that often.
You know, my ancestors thought the northern lights were the shimmers of the fence between Asgard, home of the gods, and midgard, home of the humans.

It's big for me!
That's an interesting fact - I honestly never knew that. Thanks for that tidbit I can really see why people would think that, though - the auroras re an amazing site.
