There has always been a mystery surrounding spiders...Like a lot of people I used to be scared of spiders (for no particular reason) until one day when I was attacked by a huge tarantula. It was stopped by a glass windscreen (which it was trying to break through). This gave me a wonderful opportunity to study this creature from very close range... and much to my surprise it looked more like a furry soft toy than anything dangerous. How looks can deceive.
On the other hand, this particular spider was extremely tiny but was still putting on a good show...
Location:
My front wall. The blood red color of the wall is the same as the rocks and earth round here (due to the high iron content... which plays incredible tricks on mobile phone reception).

I like spiders. They are easy to photography because they stay still, make webs with high decorative value, come in many size and colors ; and they eat flies and mosquitoes, that I hate.

Spiders are amazing creatures and they don't creep me out unless they're crawling on me or are right near me... I have an excuse though, I had a bad allergic reaction to a spider bit when I was 8 or so, my eyes swelled shut and everything.

I'm afraid of spiders myself, but had an experience a few years ago that made me make up my mind about them again:
I was on Syros, a Cycladic island, during a field trip for my diploma. We were out in the wilds, and my husband picked up a stone that looked funny... and under that stone was the net of a tarantula.
It was rather huge, but friendly, with a white pelt with delicate black markings... I've never seen a more fragile or beautiful creature.
And since then, I try not to dislike spiders too much, for they are indeed way more fascinating than frightening.
