This is the command squad from my Warhammer 40,000 Imperial Guard army, the 24th Regiment of Foot, Praetorian Guard. Model painting and photography was done by me. It takes about 2 hours to complete one soldier.The Praetorians where designed to look like the 24th Regiment of Foot, the South Wales Borderers during the Anglo-Zulu war, who fought at both Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. However, these particular soldiers from the WH40k Universe are part of the Imperium of Man, and are part of the vast Imperial Guard.
Each one is armed differently. From left to right, the bugler only has a chain sword, the next soldier has a grenade launcher, the officer has a bolter, the corporal has a standard lasgun, and the standard bearer also has a chainsword. The world of warhammer has an infinite diversity it seems.

Where would one find these praetorian miniatures? or are they out of manufacture?

You can't get them retail any more. Your best chance (as was for me) is to find them on ebay.

Wow,did you customized it? I mean using extra resin or something? It's extremely exquisite.Good work with that,I'm planning on doing a WW2-ish Imperial but I ain't got a clue on how to mold them.Mind giving some useful tips?

I didn't mold these I'm afraid. However, if your looking for WWII style imperial Guardsmen, there are several armies that might spark your interest. Firstly, the Armageddon Steel Legion, who are moddled after WWII German paratroopers. The Valhallan Ice Warriors, moddled after the Red Army, and the Death Korps of Krieg, moddled after the German WWI army. For more details of the imperial Guard, check out our club,

ok i have:
1 command squad with commander, musician, standard bearer, grenade launcher, and lasgun
1 10 man squad with lasguns, flamer, sergeant with laspistol and chainsword, and a heavy bolter.
1 10 man squad with lasguns, meltagun, sergeant with laspistol and powersword, and an autocannon.
1 6 man lascannon support squad
1 6 man mortar support squad
I just never use them for anything, they've sat in a box for the last 5 years. Oddly they were some of the first models I ever bought, a gift for my 13th birthday if I remember right, but they've fallen out of favor in my court of late.
As for prices, you can have them all for $125. All models are in mint condition and only 6 of them are unpainted. Heck I even have some of the "dead" ones left with them, they came as a part of the special limited edition offer that these guys were a part of.

No, not for school. It's just a hobby. I enjoy collecting Warhammer models, and particularly these Praetorians, as their uniforms resemble the old British Military during it's african 'conquests'.

The details are amazing! You did a good job painting them! I know I'm ignorant when it comes to weapons and wars in general, but it just seems like it would be hard to fight with a heavy chain sword in one hand, a lasgun, and then all those bullets strapped around your waist. It just amazes me really.
I always thought that wars fought way way back then were so much more...honorable, for lack of a better word, because the men would charge into battle and fight hand to hand. Nowadays, we just drop a suprise attack, which works, but it just seems more cowardly. But like I said, I honestly don't know much about it, though I have a lot of respect for anyone who fights for their country, no matter how they do it.
Anyways, sorry about the rambling, lol, but you did a really good job!

I quite agree. Modern battles are a bit cowardly. I'm all for honor and duty, which is why I chose these soldiers. They maybe 40,000 years in the future, but they fight a head on battle, and are not afraid to ware their full dress uniforms to war. Much like the British army of the 1700's-1800's.

No disrespect Lord Commander, but have you ever been shot at? Cause I have. I've driven or served as a gunner on countless convoys in Iraq and run a high-traffic checkpoint where hundreds of vehicles and personnel were searched each day. On more than one occasion I've had to radio in that we were taking fire and I've even treated a gunshot wound. Now, I may not be a brilliant military strategist, but I do know that attacking the enemy with a sword is pretty stupid when he's got explosives strapped to his chest.
Utilizing Technology such as air superiority isn't cowardly, its smart and it saves lives. Fighting at night isn't underhanded or dishonorable, its tactical because we can see at night and our enemy is afraid of the dark.
I had a guy tell me that my soldiers were pussies because they complained that there wasn't enough body armor for everyone on our first deployment and not everyone was issued SAPI plates. This punk claimed that we were all cowards cause his grandpa fought in WWII and he didn't have any armor. I told the guy that I thought his Grandpa was indeed a brave man and that he should enlist to make Granpappy proud. Then he could go over there and fight in the nude just to prove his balls were as big as his ancestors. That shut him up and suddenly everyone wanted to buy me drinks. The kicker was when his girlfriend asked me to dance...
Anyway Lord Commander, thats the general opinion on the frontline. Maybe songs won't be sung and epics written of warrior poets and heroic feats of strength and prowess on a green field in a timeless place, but there is nothing cowardly or dishonorable about the way we fight or the reason we fight. Its the same as it has ever been for any soldier throughout history. We fight because we love our country enough to swear on our honor that we will put ourselves in harms way to defend it and sacrifice certain freedoms so that others won't have to.
BTW, Great job on these figures. I like your attention to detail and your selection of miniatures. Praetorians are classic and always look great on the battlefield. Nice work.
