Okay, today's my birthday. I should be asking stuffs from people, but no, instead I prefer finishing this pic. Another commission for 's epic novel. The reason being....because he had gave me a special birthday present I would never expected before, so special that it would be such a sin if I don't give anything back...somehow
Featuring here is the child version of Wing, the main character, jumped off to protect Luky, the princess, from an arrow shot by the evil pomegranate monster. No. Actually I forgot who it was.
A quote from the author..."even at 10, Wing has got skillz".
Anyways, no matter how much amount of time I dedicated to things, I can't get away from the feel that it looks rushed and messy....crap. Well anyways, I hope you like it...

I haven't read it through though, so I can't tell clearly of his encounters, but guessing from some of the illustrations you mentioned, I think I roughly see it now... Abit too much for me > <
Nevertheless, both this drawing and scene looks astonishing (Though still feeling kind of bad, yet amazed for Wing's urge of protection).

About the story... mainly for myself, it's because I usually prefer gentle novels, sorry about that...
Having spoken to you, I took a short browse at your deviations and notice that the story shows the main novel's front cover instead of a glimpse of the writing itself (or unless the text isn't showing for me in the display).
In my opinion, maybe you could summarize part of the story in the display section so readers can both see the front cover and have a general idea of the story as well, and that since it is placed under literature.
I've also gave a rough read at the Pokemon one too. Although I'm not too experience in writing... I thought it seems nicely written from back then : )

The 2220 side-track special?
Once upon a time, I had the lit there, but people like flashy covers it seems. In your case, MC would probably be too rough. There are some gentle parts, but I came to the conclusion long ago that stories that are too gentle usually don't pack the punch needed to make it.

Partly that is abit of a case on DA, but there are writers around as well who are still reading and writing if not others who occasionally reads themselves.
As of literature, those who writes or reads novels will want to read the writing itself much more than seeing the front cover. Personally I think illustrations is great to help readers visualize, but the text itself is the main body and content.

Well, anyways, it's up to yourself.
I was thinking that it might be good to place a summary or synopsis of the story in the display instead, then have the chapter downloadable for the readers. That was my original thought.
