Description
I came across a pic while looking for human poses to draw, and the thoughtful gaze and resulting feel of character struck me as one belonging to my own character. Plus, it also radically flew in the face of the stereotypical scrawny priests.
So...I tried to capture it on paper, albeit not nearly as successfully as I was wanting. I'm still up to perfecting this, so any thoughts on what could make it better? Faces are most difficult for me...Note that I made some changes, such as hairstyle and necklace. (With no direct references - scary!)
This was also done largely for *Amdhuscias , since he has been pushing me to do more shaded pieces, and wanted to see a previous anatomy-based drawing of mine done with shade. Hopefully this works! I gave it a go with a new technique I've been working with (I'm trying to be as line-less as possible).
Up next is a far overdue female anatomy piece!

Lol, thank you very much! ^_^ Pft, you can seem to do what I can never do - produce great art in a little amount of time.
I just use regular mechanical pencils. So yeah, I'm more patient than anything else. 
Also, I updated this. I got some feedback suggesting improvement on the lips and such, so I hope this works. I refuse to do anything more to it! Enough time has been spent on it!

Haha, I know exactly what you mean. I almost always continue working on my pieces after I upload them because they're really not "complete" yet, lol. And then I normally just straight-up refuse to work on something any longer, even if I see it could still use work.
But hey! Be glad you weren't the one to try the original Mona Lisa! Apparently da Vinci worked on it for over four years.

Broaden your scale of lights and darks. Also if you use line, vary the thickness of it.
As for the face, when you are drawing a guy, shade his lips, but do not outline them. Upper lip is usually the darker.

hmm..shading training require you to observe your surrounding and playing a bit with desk lamp lol...references is good for first-try at shading ^^
so no special training for this technique i guess...^^
