This is the first of a couple of commissions I've yet to get done, 's Drannian character Naeir.
So, for Flakes ^^

How'd you do the rainbow effect? Use a brush on a different layer and drop the opacity?

Kinda ^^ Here's how:
I assume you mean the essmotes(little glowy thingies that look like pyreflies)?
Well, what i did was I made a new layer , got a fuzzy brush in pale blue and drew in the essmote, then got a smaller, normal brush and without changing the position of the circle thingy in the colour picker, I just changed to a different hue on the little side bar in the colour picker, first yellow, then red, then green and drew them into the blue bits. Then I Gaussian blurred it so that the colours became blended but didn't disappear completely. After that I went to the layer mode drop-down box and set the layer to Hard Light, then added a blue Outer Glow to the layer in Layer Blending Propeties and adjusted the size & spread. After that I fiddled a touch with the opacity.

Ooo, I'm going to have to check out layer modes... I just found the hard light brush a few weeks ago.

Those colours are so beautiful and soft, the irridescence on this simply blows me away. ^_^

Perventian Drannian are the only breed who often have ears, they're an oddity amongst the other two breeds (Nilatuans usually have reeeally long ears ^^)

the truth about pyreflies is that there is no truth. They're not a squaresoft copyright, they're part of folklore ^^
'sides, as I mentioned, on Feia they're essmotes(essence motes).... they're just a similar idea...
And FF's pyreflies were mainly green ^^
