This definitely looks like a last stand kind of scene. It's the kind of picture that not only says a thousand words, but hints at thousands more prior to this scene and another few thousand to complete the story! Great job!

I really like how you've composed this piece; from the lighting, the rear camera angle and even her fly-away hair,
you've brought this image to life. She really could be standing on a length, overlooking a desolate wasteland.
Perhaps keeping watch, waiting for some enemies to rush her post.

I think, if that was the case with the "deforestation" theory, there would be more debris
littering the landscape of the ripped up trees... and the holes they were torn out of.
